The Landis Arboretum is a unique collection of trees, plants, and shrubs. But it’s also important to recognize that our arboretum is a unique collection of people.
Our volunteers are a very diverse group who come from many walks of life, each bringing unique interests, skills, and backgrounds. By donating their time and commitment, they not only help plants and trees grow, they also help the Arboretum and its mission flourish. Like any family, what we share unites us. Thus our family of volunteers joins together to preserve the special place that is the Arboretum.
My association with “The Arb” started about ten years ago. Because I had served on the Board of other organizations, the most important criteria in my choosing to get and stay involved has been the quality of people who shape the mission. The Arboretum has met the test – and exceeded my expectations.
Do you have a desire to meet other people with good hearts, stimulating interests, and an environmental consciousness — and share a love of this local treasure? I encourage you to become a member of our volunteer family if you haven’t already done so. Or if you already volunteer, enlist a “recruit”..
One way you can do that is by coming to our Family Picnic at the Meeting House on Saturday, August 20, from 2:00 until 5:00 pm. Free food, live music, and information booths showcasing our activities will be featured. Please register in advance so that we may plan accordingly.
Bring your family to meet ours.
