Spotlight on Allies: Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce

By Gail Browning

Good news! The George Landis Arboretum is now included in the Picture Perfect Schoharie County” television ad campaign sponsored by the Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce. Funded in part by the I Love NY program”, the campaign was coordinated by the Chamber, and features area businesses as well as not-for-profit organizations such as Landis.

Chamber Executive Director Georgia VanDyck and Tourism Coordinator Becky Stark are dedicated to promoting the many attractions and business enterprises located in Schoharie County. Both were enthusiastic about three recent ribbon-cutting ceremonies welcoming new businesses: My Way Café, Grandpa George’s Dugout, Victoria’s Grooming, and The Royal Meadery, part of the new beverage trail mentioned below.

They also heralded the official opening of the Lilies of the Schoharie Valley Walking Park and Gardens on Fort Road in Schoharie, featuring a display of multiple varieties of lilies near the Fox Creek Covered Bridge. The planting was a collaborative effort of the Chamber and the Schoharie Promotional Association. Additionally, the Chamber announced the opening of a new Beverage Trail, linking two distilleries, a brewery, and a meadery, an opportunity to showcase the craft beverage businesses in the county.

In October, the Chamber will begin hosting a Small Business Training series. Further information about this series and other events such as the Business Expo and Annual Business Celebration Awards is available on the Chamber’s website, www.schohariechamber.com.

You can visit the Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce at the Kintz Plastics annex at 143 Caverns Road, Howe Cave, New York. The staff will be happy to meet you and assist you in your travel plans throughout the county.
