Second Sunday Snowshoe!

We know that some of you wait anxiously all year for our Second Sunday Snowshoe events. This year, we will be snowshoeing on January 11 and February 8, from 1 to 3 pm.

Snowshoe events will be themed this year:

  • On January 11, Fred Breglia will lead the snowshoe pack; the theme of this hike will be Winter Trees. Fred will teach participants how to identify trees without their leaves.
  • On February 8, George Steele will lead the snowshoe pack; the theme of this hike is Animal Tracks and Traces. George will teach participants how to figure out who has been visiting by reading the tracks and other traces they leave behind.

Join us for an invigorating day of winter fun. Adults and families are all invited to learn about the different types of snowshoes and practice the basic skills you need to enjoy the serenity and unique beauty of winter on snowshoes on the Arboretum trails. There are a limited number of snowshoes available for sizes from toddler to teens and adults. Everyone will get a chance to try out the snowshoes, but arrive early if you need them, or bring your own. We will all meet back at the Farm House for hot cocoa and coffee. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear a sturdy pair of boots. No snow? No problem! We’ll take a winter hike instead. — but do check our Facebook page if the weather is really bad!

Registration is $5 per person or $15 for families for members of the Arboretum, and $10 per person or $25 for families who are not members of the Arboretum.

For more information or to register, call the Arboretum at (518) 8756935 or email us at info@landisarboretum.org.
