Arts @ the Arb: A Focus on the Artwork of Anne Jaster

By Chandra Burkhart

Landis Arboretum is grateful to have received many botanical drawings created by the late Anne Jaster, former Board member, naturalist, and a lifelong artist. Her passion for the natural world is visible in each flower, leaf, and stem. Her art, while simple in colors, is rich in detail and showcases the delicacy and individuality of the plant kingdom.

The drawings are currently on display in the gallery connecting the Meeting House and the new Emergency Shelter.

The official opening of the art gallery at the Meeting House complex will be held on Friday, July 29, from 4 to 7 PM. It will be a members-only event. Food and beverages will be served. Please RSVP by email to info@landisarboretum.org or phone 5188756935 by July 22.

The Landis Arboretum has a history rich in the arts since its inception. In the 1950s, it was a meeting place for writers of poetry and novels, dancers, painters, actors, and musicians, all using its location and the beauty of nature as the backdrop. Fred Lape, the Arboretum’s founder, was himself an accomplished poet and musician. The Arboretum continues to be a haven for creative minds, welcoming artists of all media: sculptors, painters, musicians, actors, and writers.
